MN United Fall Season Begins

MN United got off to a quick start to begin their Fall Season. The Loons traveled down to Fort Lauderdale for an opening match-up against the Strikers. They emerged victorious 3-0 and once again sit atop the NASL table. Their next game is their home opener against the Carolina Rail-Hawks, and if their international friendly against the Mexican U21 Team is any indication, there should be quite the crowd on hand to cheer on the Spring Champions.

United's Daniel Mendes began the scoring by deflecting in a corner kick from Justin Davis. The keeper for Fort Lauderdale attempted to punch the cross away but missed allowing for Mendes to clean up and take the 1-0 lead. Minnesota's next goal came in the 59th minute courtesy of forward Christian Ramirez whose tap in from a Justin Davis low cross gave himself sole possession of the NASL lead in goals. The final goal came in the 78th minute. A failed clear from a Strikers defender allowed M Miguel Ibarra a free run at the keeper. Ibarra beat the keeper off the dribble and buried the goal.

Although the scoreline was 3-0, Ft Lauderdale had no shortage of offensive chances. The Strikers peppered GK Mitch Hildebrandt, but Mitch was on top form making a variety of highly skilled saves and athletic deflections.

(Defender no. 2) Justin Davis finished with two assists

(Forward no. 21) Christian Ramirez finished with one goal
(Midfielder no. 10) Miguel Ibarra finished with one goal
